This project included 187,500 sf (6-1/4 floors) of interior renovations. Gillanders was the Construction Manager. The scope of work included complete demolition and re-construction of the entire space and included general office space, private offices, reception area, meeting complex, a re-worked computer room, new kitchen, washrooms, and the refurbishment of an existing internal stairway. The meeting complex included advanced AV systems such as video conferencing and the installation of movable ‘Skyfold’ walls.
The challenge of this project was to complete the work in a timely phased manner while the adjacent floors remained occupied. This included demolition and asbestos abatement work. To accomplish this, the project was executed in four phases. The work was performed without interruption to the daily business activities of Osler.
A unique aspect of this project was that a full base building upgrade for the Landlord, Brookfield, was completed concurrently with Osler’s project by Gillanders. The result was a much shorter overall project duration for both projects and reduced costs to both clients.
